It’s been a busy summer already for Sacramento artists and arts organizations – with several creative events, workshops and programs getting underway! We are thrilled to see the enthusiastic support from the community and hope you can share in the excitement.

The Flywheel Arts Incubator for the creative economy was launched officially in June and the 10 selected participants have already begun the assessment and development portion of their program.  We are eager to see what these talented folks can do with a little help and much needed resources.  Check out the details and a complete list of incubator participants here.

In a switch from the traditional BVA program of the Arts & Business Council, our Business Volunteers for the Arts will offer their expertise, advice and services to the inaugural Flywheel class in many areas – and we are always looking for business professionals who want to lend their time and expertise to help develop the arts.  If you have 3-5 years experience in a business environment – check out the BVA page online to find out how you can get involved..

SMAC hosted a series of very informative and successful workshops to help artists and non-profits to grow their business and develop their fundraising skills, and the creative community gained important information and resources through these valuable events.  Watch for upcoming programs and opportunities at

GOOD Street Food and Design Market started up in June and takes place on every first Sunday of the month through November.  Developed as an opportunity to merge the creative with the delicious – you should check it out at 1409 Del Paso Blvd, or online at .

LAUNCH 2012 is slated for July 23-28 and offers a week-long immersion of art, music, fashion, design and architecture that will redefine Sacramento.  Get schedule and details at
